‘Slide’ featured next in Galaxy Series
“Slide,” an Irish music band, is scheduled to perform in Memorial Hall as part of the Galaxy Series. The band, formed in 1999, has recorded four albums and has toured internationally.
According to the band’s Web site, “Slide [has] collectively honed an electrifying fresh sound building on their deep roots and teaching expertise in Irish Traditional Music.”
Awards given to the band include “Best Newcomer” from “The Irish Music Magazine” in 2001, and in 2005, the band received the Young Musicwide Award, developed by the Arts Council of Ireland.
The band consists of Éamonn De Barre, flute and keyboards; Daire Bracken, fiddle; Mick Broderick, bouzouki; Dave Curley, vocals and bodhrán; and Aogán Lynch, concertina.
“Slide” will play on Memorial Hall’s main stage 7:30 – 9:30 p.m., Wednesday.
