Students to present at weekend’s conference

The annual Mari Sandoz Heritage Society Conference is scheduled tonight through Saturday afternoon in the Student Center. The conference, which will focus on the Mari Sandoz book “Son of the Gamblin’ Man,” will also include a variety of speakers and a small exhibit of art by Robert Henri, a Cozad native.

The Spring Read, an event organized by the CSC English and Humanities department as part of a new recruitment strategy, will take place 1 p.m. Saturday. The event is set to take place at “The Cliffs,” located south of Chadron and 5.5 miles east of the Job Corps Center.

The Synergy Brass Quintet performed on the stage in Memorial Hall 7 p.m. Monday following the Chadron State College Jazz Festival. The quintet’s performance was part of the Galaxy Series.

Small business workshop scheduled for Saturday

Small business workshop scheduled for Saturday

The Nebraska Small Business Development Center has scheduled a small business workshop for Saturday starting at 8 a.m.

The registration cost for the workshop is $40 and includes lunch. Discounts are available for students and business partners.

The workshop is targeted both at people looking to start a small business and those who already operate a small business.

The focus of Saturday’s workshop will be creating a marketing plan and business accounting and law.

Local business professionals will be available to discuss questions and specific issues with participants.
