Wildlife Club to host travel safety education booth
The Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands, Chadron State College Wildlife Club, and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will host a booth on campus November 9 and 10 in the Student Center from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Members from the three entities will be on-hand to answer questions about travel management on public lands, hand out free Motor Vehicle User Maps from the Forest Service, and other hunter education and safety information from the Nebraska Game and Parks.
The groups came together to promote safe and responsible hunting prior to the popular November 13 opening of firearm deer season, said Teresa Zimmerman, Faculty Sponsor for the Wildlife Club.
“The Wildlife Club is happy to host this booth to promote education about travel management so that all outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy our public lands and resources. We see travel management as another important aspect of conservation and long term protection of wildlife habitat, as well as the greater landscape for future generations,” she said.
The group plans to have several give-aways and a daily prize drawing, in addition to the free maps.
