The 2011-12 Galaxy Series starts this Thursday with the concert “Ricky Nelson Remembered.”

Gunnar and Matthew Nelson’s band “Nelson” spent time at the top of the charts in the early 1990s. Their debut album “After the Rain” went multi-platinum. Their song “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection,” was number one on the charts, and they also had three Top 10 singles and five Top 40 Billboard hits.

Ricky Nelson, the twins’ father also had many hit songs in the 60s and 70s before his death in 1985. He sold over 100 million records and had three number one hit albums.

Ricky Nelson was one of the first to make country-rock popular.

The Nelson twins began adding their father’s music to their set list after multiple requests. They both believe that it’s a good thing to play their father’s music in order to “keep his music alive,” according to Gunnar Nelson.

The concert will include all different sounds, Nelson’s old and new rock, classic rock, and county rock.

The Nelson’s will preform 7 p.m., Thursday. To reserve tickets, contact the Box Office at 432-6207 or boxoffice@csc.edu. Tickets may also be purchased at the door if available.
