Auditor sets football report deadline
Auditor Mike Foley stated via email Tuesday that the Nebraska State College System annual audit will include items relating to the college’s football fundraising issue, and will be published by March 1.
Though the report covers the 2010-11 fiscal year, which, according to NSCS board policy 6001, ends June 30, Foley stated that the report “will further address the Chadron football issue.”
According to board materials posted on the NSCS website, the board of trustees has historically received the annual audit “by sometime in December, at the latest.”
These documents also state that the NSCS is required to submit the annual audit to the federal audit clearinghouse by March 31.
The Board’s “Fiscal, Facilities & Audit Committee,” chaired by trustee Bill Roskens of Omaha, voted yesterday to “Authorize the Chancellor to Accept the Nebraska State College System Audit Report for the Year Ended June 30, 2011 and Provide Distributions Necessary in Order to Meet Required Deadlines.”
The minutes for the board’s Wednesday meeting stated that the annual state college audit was late.
“Given the timing and late completion of the audit, the System Office is recommending authorization for the Chancellor to accept the audit and distribute the audit information, as necessary, in order to meet required deadlines.
The Board will be asked to ratify this acceptance at the April 19-20, 2012 meeting,” the minutes state.
