More than 20 apply for Snare’s vacant deanship

More than 20 applicants have applied for the dean of liberal arts/teaching and learning position, Joel Hyer, dean for B.E.A.M.S.S. and search committee-chair, said Tuesday.

The job opening created by Charles Snare’s recent promotion was announced by the college Dec. 6, 2011.

The search committee includes five faculty members and Hyer.

“I would hope by mid-March,” Hyer said of the committee’s time frame for selecting the new dean.

Hyer said he didn’t think any applications submitted at this time were from candidates within the college.

“I think they might all be external,” Hyer said.

Kind of interesting that all the applicants are from outside the system, don’t you think? While there’s no doubt new blood in the administrative level at CSC is needed, the fact that no one on campus wants to be a part of the administrative level at this point in time is rather telling.
