Rhine tapped as CSC’s 11th president
In about 45 days, Interim President Randy Rhine will become President Randy Rhine.
Nebraska State College System Chancellor Stan Carpenter said Thursday morning that Rhine would lead CSC as its permanent president beginning January 2013.
“At its Jan. 15 meeting, the board will appoint Randy Rhine as CSC’s next president,” Carpenter said. “It was clear throughout the process that he had the leadership abilities and the traits to keep this institution moving forward.”
“What an honor,” Rhine said in response to an invitation by Carpenter to address the crowd of mostly CSC faculty, staff, and administrators. “It’s the best possible Christmas gift I can imagine.”
Carpenter said after sifting through “30 or 40” applications, the search committee recommended two candidates, Guy Mills, current President of Northwest Kansas Technical College, Goodland, and Rhine to the NSCS Board of Trustees.
The candidates then each met with the board for 1.5 hours before it made its selection.
