Men’s team drops 2 games, finishes 2014 season
A double loss against Regis University, 63-58, and Metro State University, 72-51, Friday and Saturday, respectively, leaves the Eagles 3-7.
Against Regis, CSC totaled 32.2 percent of its 2-pointers; 44.4 percent of its 3-pointers; and 70 percent of its free throws.
Guard Evan Brooks, senior of Ontario, California, led the team in 3-pointers with three of four. Brooks also marked three of five 2-pointers, and two of two free throws.
Brooks and forward Kendrick Holliman, senior of Spanish Fort, Alabama, lead the team with 17 total points.
CSC and Regis took the lead throughout the first half, with Regis scoring the first four points before guard Christopher Smith, senior of Pasadena, California, shot a 2-pointer. From there the lead bounced back and forth before Regis took the lead, ending the first half 29-27.
A Holliman 3-pointer put CSC in the lead for most of the second half until the two teams tied with 1:31 left in the game. Regis then dropped five points, ending the game 63-58.
Saturday, CSC took the lead early against Metro State, but fell shortly behind after Metro State sunk three 2-pointers in a row. Metro State maintained the lead for the remainder of the game, staying ahead of CSC by 10 points or more.
CSC totaled 35.1 percent of its 2-pointers; 26.1 percent of its 3-pointers; and 38.5 percent of its free throws.
Smith led the team with 24 points, followed by Holliman with 18 points. Smith also led the team in 3-pointers chalking four of five; he also posted five of nine 2-pointers.
Forward Davante McCallam, junior of Miami, Florida, lead the team in 2-pointers, sinking five of seven. McCallam recorded 10 total points throughout the game.
