Eagles struggle during weekend match-ups
The men’s basketball team played two away games this weekend. On Friday, the men traveled to Colorado State University-Pueblo, in Pueblo, Colorado. The men were defeated by a score of 92-49.
The ThunderWolves made 14 out of 16 free throws throughout the game, while the Eagles made 11 out of 14. Although the game was close at the end of the first half, the ThunderWolves launched ahead of the Eagles in the second half, where they scored 47 points.
Jordan Mills, sophomore of Alliance, was the only Eagle who scored in the double digits. He finished the game with 12 points. Michael Johnson, sophomore of Nassau, Bahamas, who returned from an illness, and Jeremy Ruffin, junior of Chicago, both had 8 points.
On Saturday, the men traveled to Las Vegas, New Mexico, to play New Mexico Highlands University.
Although the game was close, the Cowboys defeated the Eagles 69-67.
The Eagles shot their best game of the season and the Cowboys shot their third lowest percentage of the season.
Mills led the Eagles for the third time in a row. He hit 7 out of 10 shots and finished the game with 16 points. Dru Kuxhausen, freshman of Scottsbluff, had 13 points. Ruffin had his sixth double-double of the season with 10 boards and 12 points.
The Eagles will play their last two away games against Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian University this upcoming weekend.
