CSC sororities Xi Delta Zeta and Zeta Alpha Kappa hosted a game night and movie night, Tuesday, at the Student Center as part of their annual Rush Week events.
“I can’t imagine where I would be if I hadn’t rushed last year. I met my best friend here,” McKenna Webel, 19, sophomore of Lincoln, said.
The two sororities start the semester off as combined events then split into separate groups as the new bids choose which sorority they want to join.
The Xi Delta Zeta sorority hosted a jungle-themed game night in the Lakota/Ponderosa Room. The night included a variety of activities such as coloring and games.
Laughter filled the room as the girls played a game of Kahoot and snacked on treats.
Xi Delta Zeta, which currently has 16 members, is looking to increase its numbers and is welcoming new girls to join their sisterhood.
Tuesday night gave both sorority sisters and potential bids an opportunity to interact with each other in a casual environment.
Spending time together, engaging in activities and building friendship among members are the main goals the sororities focus on.
“It is a really good way of making new friends and having a bonding experience, and you always have something to do,” Savannah Jackson, 22, senior of Valentine, said.
Zeta Alpha Kappa hosted a movie night where the girls decorated cupcakes while watching “Footloose.”
Samantha Merrill, 21, senior of Oral, South Dakota, said the night was a great opportunity for the girls to relax, de-stress and get to know one another.
Tonight, those rushing will get to watch the two sororities perform skits about their sororities starting at 6 p.m. at the Landing.
The girls rushing for the two sororities will find out which sorority they will call their sisterhood during Bid Night at 4 p.m. on Friday at the CSC Amphitheater.
