Five CSC seniors showcased their art and are prepping for the upcoming reception for their senior art show, “A Look Into the Sublime.”
Abigail Cary, of Gothenburg, Courtney Casillas of Grant, Kayla DeSersa of Gothenburg, Nicole Schekall of Hemingford and Tristan Stephenson of Alliance will all be graduating in May 2019.
Casilla, DeSersa and Stephenson will all graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Education with an endorsement in Art, K-12.
Cary and Schekall will both graduate with a Bachelor of Art with a comprehensive major with an Art Studio option.
The students’ art has been on display in the main gallery of Memorial Hall since Nov. 19 and will stay until Dec. 7. The gallery is open from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
There will be a reception in Memorial Hall from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday. This will be free to the public and provides a chance to meet the senior artists and learn more about their pieces.
The pieces in the show all reflect themes of life experiences, nature, capturing memories and influential moments in time. The artists’ pieces explore these topics through various mediums, including ceramics, paintings, printmaking, photography and sculptures.
“Overall, I think the show is a great opportunity to show our artwork to the public,” Stephenson said. “(The reception) allows for more casual and in depth conversation should any viewer be interested in what we are doing or have created.”
Much of the featured art will be for sale after the reception.
