Community support for O’Boyle grows

All signs indicate that the Chadron community sympathizes with the plight of recently suspended football coach Bill O’Boyle. Posted in the windows of local businesses, they read, “We Support Coach O’Boyle,” or some variation thereof.

Faculty seek scholarship applications

The Chadron State College Education Association Scholarship Committee is giving students a chance to receive a CSCEA Scholarship for the Spring 2012 semester.

Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to two students who full-fill the eligibility requirements and appear to be a potential candidate to receive the scholarship.

No CAB meeting Tuesday

Due to a majority vote of the Campus Activities Executive Board, the CAB did not meet Tuesday for its weekly meeting. The next meeting of the CAB is scheduled for 6 p.m., Nov. 8.

Student Senate plants trees, tours library

This week, the Student Senate meeting was moved to the Reta King Library, as senate members were taken on a tour around the main and basement floors. Some members were a little tired, as they had arrived right after participating in “100 trees for 100 years.” The project made much headway on Monday, but is still in progress.

Online courses an unfortunate necessity

Chadron State has the highest technology fee rate of the three-college system, with technology fees 16 percent higher than the next highest institution (Peru State).

With a total of 258 courses offered online in 2011, CSC has more online course offerings than Wayne and Peru State Colleges combined. Between 2010-11, Peru and Wayne States’ online offerings have dropped, but CSC’s has increased two percent.
