Chadron State College President Janie Park announced her plans to retire from the college today at an all-staff appreciation luncheon.

Recently-passed legislation grants Chadron State the largest facility appropriation in the institution’s 101-year history.

The legislation was introduced to the Nebraska Unicameral Jan. 17 by Sen. John Harms, of Scottsbluff, and Sen. Lavon Heidemann, of Elk Creek.

Student Senate gathered for a shorter meeting Monday and revised one of its constitutions.

T.J. Thomson, treasurer, reintroduced the newly revised Senate finance committee constitution that was presented to Senate at its March 28 meeting. Senate approved the changes. Club appeals are today. Seven clubs have requested appeals.

The Campus Activities Board allocated money for free movie and bowling nights, and nominated candidates for its executive board positions Tuesday.

Bruce Hoem, associate professor of Counseling, Psychology & Social Work is set to deliver a presentation titled, “Vietnam – Stories of a Time Near and Far,” as part of the 2011-12 Dorset Graves Lecture Series. Hoem will be speaking 7 p.m., Tuesday in King Library #108.

According to Chris Green, Nelson Physical Activity Center coordinator, the NPACs hours will change due to the Easter weekend holiday. The NPAC will be closed Saturday and Monday. The Art department is offering a new course to learn how to craft for credits. The three-credit course, Creative Crafts (ART 437), is going to be offered spring semester in Burkhiser. Richard Bird, professor of Visual Arts, is planning on teaching students how to make paper, fashion glass beads, weave from a loom, and create tie-dyed and bateaus fabrics.

Members of the Campus Activities Board approved changes to their constitution and discussed next year’s Galaxy Series events at their meeting Tuesday.

Members of CAB voted on and approved changes to the CAB constitution that will reduce the number of officers on the executive board and change the nature of the meetings. Luke Wright, president, said the changes will reduce the number of executive officers to four positions.

Chadron State College is currently working to boost international student enrollment at the institution, according to Randy Rhine, vice president of Enrollment Management and Student Services.

Morgan Nelson, junior of Norfolk, is the new student trustee on campus.
