Chadron State’s football team kicked off its spring game at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Elliott Field. The graduate assistant coaches split the squad into two separate teams, Cardinal and White. Head Coach Jay Long invited RMAC officials to referee the game, which helped the incoming players’ to play under real game conditions, Long said.

The Chadron State College football team played their annual spring scrimmage on Saturday, April 21, at Elliot Field, which resulted in the victory of the Cardinal team over the White 20-10.

The coaching staff has had a successful recruiting process, according to Jay Long, the football coach, despite the recent NCAA investigation. According to long, 54 players have been added to the roster this year, and the possibility of NCAA sanctions did not hinder the recruiting process.

It’s springtime. The air is warm. The birds are chirping. And starting Monday, Chadron’s football team will rise from its winter hibernation and hit the gridiron.

Football is getting focused. The football program signed 25 incoming freshman with National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to their roster.

Emotions were high last Saturday at Elliot Field, when the Eagles hosted Colorado Mesa University. Not only was it the final game of the season, but for 10 seniors, it was also the final game of their Chadron career.

The town of Chadron filled up rapidly last weekend with supporters for embattled CSC coach Bill O’Boyle. Approximately 100 football players, their parents and local well-wishers gathered Saturday morning.

The Chadron State Eagles football team squared off against the Western New Mexico Mustangs at Ben Altamirano Field in Silver City, N.M. on Saturday. The Eagles, coming off a dominant 42-14 win over New Mexico Highlands, were looking to make it two in a row.

Just a week after their 42-14 victory over Highlands University New Mexico, Las Vegas, N.M. (4-3, 2-3 RMAC) the 3-4 Eagles (3-2 RMAC) seek another win against Western New Mexico University in Silver City, N.M. this Saturday.
