Bareback rider Whitten Hoover, junior of Ainsworth, and steer wrestler Tyrel Bonnet, junior of Newell, S.D., both placed second in their events at the Lamar Community College rodeo this past weekend in Lamar, Colo.

Although two steer wrestlers placed in the third and first positions of the short round at the Sheridan College Rodeo, the men’s team still landed in seventh of ten teams.

The Chadron State women’s rodeo team placed second in the Central Wyoming College Rodeo last weekend.

“It’s not the strongest that win the most, it’s the most consistent that win the most.”

This is Rodeo Coach Dustin Luper’s theory on winning. His women’s team, however, has been both most consistent and strongest.

Chadron State’s first rodeo of the season was a success for the women’s team.

Chadron State’s Rodeo team has seven incoming freshmen and five transfer students to supplement the 19 veterans.
