Even though they were miles apart, the Chadron State College track athletes finished well as a whole. Eagles participants succeeded in both the Rock and Jock Open in Spearfish, S.D. and the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa.

Last Thursday, the Chadron State track and field team got together for the Cardinal and White intrasquad meet. White snatched a win from Cardinal by a score of 378 to 326.

On Aug. 24, the NSCS Board of Trustees approved the new program at a meeting in Nebraska City. Baily said that the Board would meet again in the coming weeks to finalize elements of CSC’s newest competitive sport. Head Track and Field coach Ryan Baily called the program the missing piece of the puzzle.

At its Wednesday meeting, the NSCS Board of Trustees voted to approve the addition of a of a Division II NCAA men’s and women’s cross country program to Chadron State’s athletic offerings.

Despite cold and rainy weather, Chadron State’s men’s 4×100-meter relay team won their event and several other athletes placed well at the Jack Christiansen Invitational at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., Saturday.

Four more school records were set and several athletes qualified provisionally for the National Meet in late May.

The women’s track and field team is ranked first in the Central Region of the RMAC because of its performance at the University of Colorado Invitational Meet last Saturday in Boulder, Colo.

Opening the outdoor season, three Chadron State athletes scored provisional qualifying marks. Several others had career-best marks in a dual at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Saturday.

“I’m pretty excited. No, I’m incredibly excited about it.” These are the words of the nation’s record holder in the Division II heptahlon event, CSC’s Brad Gamble, senior of Eagle, Colo.

Brad Gamble, senior of Eagle Valley, Colo., placed first in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division II National Indoor Track and Field Meet with 5,456 points, setting a national record.
