As the snow storm rose in Chadron, CSC’s track and field team was on it’s way to sunshine and beaches. Despite the travel distance, Head Coach Ryan Baily had nothing but positive things to say about the bus ride to the meets.

After a couple weeks and some hard practices, Chadron State’s track and field team is ready to get more marks in, but with the blizzard covering most of the surrounding area, the meet scheduled for today is canceled.

While spring may be hiding behind the snow drifts, Chadron State’s track and field team prepares to begin their 2013 outdoor season.

Chadron State Eagle’s thrower Alyssa Norton, junior of Rushville; sprinter Alex Graham, junior of St. Leonardo, Jamaica; and thrower Charith Kapukotuwa, junior of Chilaw, Sri Lanka, competed in the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships this past weekend in Birmingham, Ala.

With the Eagle’s flight plan changed from last week as the field team separated from the runners and made their way to Spearfish, S.D. Bringing home multiple first place spots, the Eagles showed great potential going into the conference finals.

The Eagle track team flew above the weary weather and maintained an eastern flight plan to compete in Seward. Although the Concordia Indoor Track and Field Meet deemed tough competition, the Eagles soared above a dozen teams to snatch second place as a team.

The Chadron State Track and Field team finished with six provisional qualifiers and set a new school pole vault record at the Air Force Invitational Friday and Saturday.

The Chadron State track and field athletes will have their first meet of the second semester in Colorado Springs, Colo., when they compete in the Air Force Academy Invitational Friday and Saturday.

Chadron State’s cross country team competed in their first RMAC Championship on Saturday in Colorado Springs at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. For it being their first season as a DII team, Head Coach Ryan Baily was quite impressed.

The Eagles cross country team participated in the Chile Pepper Festival this past weekend in Fayetteville, Ark., and proved themselves to be a team that can overcome tough odds.
