A petting zoo, world’s longest taco line, and a pool party, in the middle of April, all contributed to the 2017 Spring Daze event at CSC.
As part of Spring Daze, Chadron State College Creative Dining Services worked with the Guinness World record book to Construct the Record 2017. They built the world’s longest continuous taco line Friday in the Chicoine Center.
Johnathan Sayaloune, 21, junior of Scottsbluff, was crowned Mr. Spring Daze and Kayla Candelaria, 20, junior of Brooklyn, New York claimed the tiara as Mrs. Spring Daze Saturday in the Student Center.
In association with the Northwest Nebraska Trails Association and the National Forest Service, volunteers from Chadron State’s fifth annual The Big Event began clearing hiking trails south of Chadron.
The Big Event, a community-service event at Chadron State College, came to Chadron for the fifth straight year Saturday afternoon.
CSC sports teams have a history of participating in The Big Event, and this year was no different for the men’s and women’s basketball teams and dance team.
The 14 excited grade schoolers who attended Saturday’s class conducted several experiments to demonstrate how weather changes. The students created precipitation, frost, dew, a barometer, a thermometer, and an anemometer.
Chadron State College students dug through bowls of worms and ate habanero peppers to show their bravery at the RLA-sponsored “Fear Factor” event in The Hub at 7 p.m. Saturday.
To raise awareness for testicular cancer and LGBTQ rights, eight CSC students dressed up as the opposite gender for the night and put on a show for the Cancer’s A Drag event Thursday in the Student Center Ballroom. With over 100 students in attendance, it could be argued that this was one of the more popular events on campus.
