Wrestling breaks even at Central Missouri Dual meets
The Eagle wrestlers traveled to the Central Missouri Dual tournament Sunday.
The Eagles started the first dual meet against University of Central Missouri.
Freshman Dustin Stodola of Clarkson won by forfeit at the 125-pound class.
Freshman Ryan Fillingame of Hesperia, Calif., lost against Marcus Walker, freshman of Kansas City, Kan., 6-2 in the 133-pound class.
Lance Jeffries, freshman of Loveland, Colo., lost to Cory Bloodgood, senior of Spring Hill, Kan., at the 141-pound class, 13-2. 149-pound Jake Lords, sophomore of Rexburg, Idaho, was pinned by Brandon Russow, freshman of Neosho, Mo.
157-pound sophomore Brain Easterling of Omaha beat junior Denis Ryzhov of Mezhdurechensk, Russia 9-0.
Justin Dekok, redshirt freshman of Kearney, won the 165-pound match over freshman Brain Click of Phoenix, 2-0.
For the 174-pound class, junior Cody Vasconcellos of Turlock, Calif., lost to senior Matt Bailes of Kansas City, Kan., 9-8.
184-pound Chris Leak, redshirt freshman of Omaha, fell to Phil Witt, 5-4.
197-pound Duke Eardley of Mountain View, Wyo., pinned his opponent sophomore Doug Thompson of Kansas City, Kan. 3:44.
Finally, RJ Boylan, redshirt freshman of Gillette, Wyo., lost 2-0 to junior Brandon Hayes of Camdenton, Mo., in the 285-pound class. The Eagles lost 22-19 to UCM.
Next, the Eagles faced Newman University. Stodola won again by forfeit, putting the team in the lead for the first match.
Ryan Fillingame defeated Blake Fisher, sophomore of Goddard, Kan., 6-2.
141-pound class junior Hagen Guzman of Scottsbluff lost by major decision 11-3.
Lords lost 3-1 to sophomore Mitch Arnold of Wichita, Kan. Easterling in the 157-pound class won the decision over freshman Patrick Spencer of Springfield, Ill., 11-9.
Eagle 165-pound class Justin Dekok lost 8-7 against NU wrestler Austin Workman, redshirt freshman of Perry, Okla.
174-pound freshman Jeremy Fillingame of Hesperia, Calif., defeated Blake Fulbright, freshman of Wichita, 4-2.
Leak lost his match by decision, 3-1, to Tyler Hasenbank, freshman of Concordia, Kan.
RJ Boylan won by forfeit, Chadron won the match 27-13.
The third match was against University of Mary. Stodola lost 8-4 to junior Matt Garcia of Tuscon, Ariz.
Ryan Fillingame won by tech fall against freshman Tanner Beaman of Lakeside, Mont., 18-1.
Guzman lost by major decision 13-3 to Cody Schmidt, senior of Mandan, N.D., at the 141-pound class.
Lords lost 7-3 to Evan Gross, freshman of Napoleon, N.D. Easterling lost to sophomore Colin Engelhardt of Bismark, N.D., 3-2.
Jeremy Fillingame won the match over Shane Primeau, sophomore of O’Fallon, Mo., 5-4.
Leak lost 9-1 to Brady Anderson, freshman of Hamilton, Mont., while Eardley was pinned by Dusty Vleim 3:22 into the match.
Boylan won 4-1 over Kriss McCleary, freshman of Napolon, but the win wasn’t enough for the Eagles. The team lost to UM 22-15.
The fourth and final match was against Truman State.
Stodola opened the final match winning 18-5 against freshman Rolland Wimberley of Wrangell, Alaska.
Ryan Fillingame won his match against Ryan Banning, freshman of Wildwood, Mo., 9-1.
Guzman shut out Jordan Powell, freshman of Mesa, Ariz., by winning with a major decision, 11-0. Lords fell to sophomore Alex Maus of Kennesaw, Ga., 7-3.
Easterling pinned Bryan Isbell, senior of Brussels in 1:06. Dekok followed and pinned Andy Bader, junior of St. Louis, 3:30 into the match.
Leak won by forfeit followed by Eardley who defeated Zach Hayes redshirt freshman Maryland Heights, Mo., 9-4.
Boylan was pinned 43 seconds into the match by Loyde Braidlow, senior of Rolla, Mo.
The Eagles won the meet 39-9.
The team finished with two team wins and two team losses total for the tournament.
