Student brandishes knife during music disagreement
Chadron Police arrested freshman Cory Runnells, 18, of Loveland, Colo., after he allegedly brandished a knife at his roommate in Kent.
Police responded to a disturbance call around 3 p.m. Saturday morning in Runnells’ dormitory.
Officers spoke with James Safarik, 19, freshman of Hyannis, in the lobby of Kent and determined that he and Runnels had a disagreement over music. Upon further investigation, a knife was recovered from the scene. Runnells was arrested and taken to the Dawes County Jail.
Runnells faces felony charges of second degree assault and use of a weapon other than a firearm to commit a felony. He was also charged with disturbing the peace.
Runnells posted bond of ten-percent of $50,000.
