CAB reviews feedback from senate survey
Resignations, nominations, and Senate’s survey responses were the topics of interest during CAB’s meeting Tuesday.
- Christine Aye, CAB treasurer, reported there is $7,442.50 in the treasury.
- President Matt Coe introduced admissions representative Seth Hulquist to discuss the revival of the Friend-to-Friend Program, in which CSC students take information about CSC to friends, family, or former schools during midterm break.
Upon returning with filled-out inquiry cards, students will receive a prize packet. Questions can be directed to Hulquist in Crites 352. - Hulquist highlighted a Youth Fishing Instruction course scheduled for March 25, getting students “involved with members of the community.”
- Senate reported survey results to Coe, which he said, “Responses were fairly clear.”
Three voted in favor of one meeting per month, 24 in favor of two meetings, two in favor of three meetings, and 11 were in favor of four meetings.
Ten representatives said they report CAB information to their club every week, whereas 24 said they report back occasionally, and two club representatives never report back.
Ninteen clubs felt not all executive board positions are necessary, with many reporting that Special/Cultural Events, Publicity Coordinator, and Student Events “seem to be the same thing,” according to the survey.
Fifteen representatives felt that all positions are necessary for proper functioning.
When asked “Would you like to vote and be responsible for making any changes made to CAB?” 31 responded yes, nine responded no.
Coe said CAB “will work on that later, after Spring Days.” - Coe announced that Lisa Curtis resigned from the position of publicity coordinator “a week or two ago,” Coe said, with no reasons presented.
The floor was opened to nominations to fill the publicity coordinator, which Coe described as “publicize events going on on campus . . . basically, get the word out.”
The question was raised if a former CAB member could be nominated. There is only a stipulation that those nominated have been a member of CAB for one full semester or longer.
Aye nominated Hella Bekele for the position, which will close at next week’s meeting. Letters of intent were asked to be turned in by 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. - Vice-President Jamie Benson reported Free Movie Night is planned for 7:15 Sunday at The Eagle Theatre.
- Laure Sinn, coordinator of student activities, said Late Night at the Pit will host Average Joe Olympics 9 p.m. Thursday.
- Doug Liewer, student trustee, said he and the new student trustee will be attending the 33rd Annual Inauguration of the Peru State College President March 25 and 26.
- Ashley Chalupa said that the War Eagles will host March Mustache Madness.
Entry fees are $5, and a booth will be set up in the Student Center during lunch this week.
A photo will be taken to measure the current mustache, and another will be taken at the end of the month to determine winners.
