Garrett L. Schlichtemeier

Garrett L. Schlichtemeier, 19, of Ogallala and a student at Chadron State College, died March 8 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala., as a result of injuries suffered in a one-car rollover accident early that morning.
Schlichtemeier was born Oct. 26, 1990, in North Platte.

He is survived by parents Jeff and Shari Schlichtemeier and his sister Laramie Schlichtemeier, all of Ogallala. 

Schlichtemeier was a redshirt freshman on the Chadron State College football team. He received a football scholarship and the Presidential Gold and Cliff L. Johnson academic scholarships. He attained a 4.0 GPA for the fall 2009 semester.

The funeral service was 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Ogallala High School Auditorium. 

Rev. James Miller of the First United Methodist Church officiated. Interment followed at the Ogallala cemetery.

In lieu of Flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a scholarship in Schlichtemeier’s name.
