Zeta Phi Delta sorority gets senate approval

Student Senate discussed internal matters, club approvals, and events around campus in their meeting Monday.

  • The Student Senate Executive Board arranged for a bouquet of flowers to be delivered to Garrett Schlichtemeier’s funeral.
    A card will be placed in the Student Center Thursday for anyone to sign. It will be sent to the Schlichtemeier family.
  • The Service Club was approved by senate. Their goal is to do community service throughout Chadron.
  • Zeta Phi Delta, a sorority on campus, was approved as a club on Monday.
    Jazzy Seumalo, president of Zeta Phi Delta said “The main goal is to get women involved, reach out to the community, and to encourage leadership.”
  • The game cleaning station supported by the Nebraska Game Hunters Association is to remain on campus even though a concealed carry weapons law went into effect on campus March 5.
  • The Social Work Club is sponsoring a walking taco and bake sale on Saturday outside of Wal-Mart.
  • A foreign language forum will take place in the Student Center 12:30 – 2:30 Thursday.
  • Seventeen amendments to the Student Senate constitution will be on the ballot during elections.
    Senate expects a better voting turn out on Wednesday and Thursday due to old fashion voting methods.
    Stickers and candy will be given out during voting.
    Laure Sinn, coordinator of student activities, said the turnout will be better because, “It’s not Facebook, it’s in-your-face voting.”
