Track finishes fourth at Hays Quad
The Chadron State College track team attended the 2010 Pueblo State University-Chadron State College-University of Nebraska at Kearney-Fort Hays State University Quad held last Friday and Saturday in Hays, Kan.
Nineteen events were scored, with the women’s and men’s teams both finishing fourth overall.
In the women’s 100-meter dash, freshman Monique Fair of Denver, placed second with a final run of 12.32.
Redshirt freshman Trae Patch of Lingle, Wyo., placed fourth in the women’s 200-meter dash with her run of 26.14.
Freshman Meghan Finney of Gunnison, Colo., placed third in the women’s 400-meter dash with a final run of 1:00.91 seconds.
Ashley Riesen, freshman of Chadron, placed first in the women’s 800-meter run with a final time of 2:20.40 and first in the women’s 1500-meter run with a run of 4:46.83 seconds.
In the women’s 100-meter hurdles senior Julia Bayer of Stuttgart, Germany, placed fourth with a final run of 15.11.
Kaelie Jelden, freshman of Greeley, Colo., placed third in the women’s pole vault with a final of 3.05 meters.
Bayer placed second with a final of 5.43 meters in the women’s long jump and second in the women’s triple jump with a final of 11.35 meters.
Also placing fifth in the women’s triple jump was Ashley Fanelli, junior of Arvada, Colo., with a final of 10.77 meters.
In the women’s discus throw Sadie Waugh, freshman of Paxton, placed fourth with a final of 40.30 meters.
Several Chadron State College teammates competed and placed in the heptathlon events.
In the women’s 200-meter dash heptathlon Kalen Prentice, junior of Arnold, placed second with a final run of 27.06 and placed third in the women’s 800-meter run heptathlon with a final time of 2:37.83 seconds.
In the women’s 100-meter hurdles heptathlon, Stacee Craig, sophomore of Powell, Wyo., placed third with a final of 16.04 and Jelden placed fourth with a final run of 16.06. Craig also placed third in the women’s high jump heptathlon with a final of 1.43 meters.
In the women’s shot put heptathlon, Craig finished in first place with a final of 10.03 meters and Jelden placed fifth with a final of 9.28 meters.
Craig placed second in the women’s javelin throw heptathlon with a final of 30.78 meters and finished overall in the women’s heptathlon with seventh place.
In the men’s 100-meter dash, Jacob Gruver, senior of Cheyenne, Wyo., placed second with a final run of 10.71. Gruver also place third in the men’s 200-meter dash with a final time of 21.88.
Three Chadron State College teammates placed in the top five in the men’s 110-meter hurdles.
Freshman Karl McFarlane of Montego Bay, Jamaica, ran a 14.35 to place second. Brandon Harrington, senior of Grand Island, placed third with a 14.47 and Lanar Newman, sophomore of Kingston, Jamaica, finished fourth with a final time of 15.01.
Sophomore Lincoln Proud of Pinedale, Wyo., finished first in the men’s 400-meter hurdles with a final run of 53.78 and Matthew Mathiason, freshman of Pierce, Colo., had a final time of 56.92 and finished fourth.
Joe Schultz, senior of Alliance, placed third in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase with a final time of 9:55.58 seconds.
In the men’s high jump Riley Northrup, senior of Hot Springs, placed second with a final of 1.95 meters.
Glen Clinton, freshman of Billings, Mont., finished second in the men’s pole vault with a final of 4.45 meters.
In the men’s long jump Harrington finished first with a final of 7.03 meter, Newman finished second with a final of 6.85 meters, and John Ritzen, senior of Chadron, placed fourth with a final of 6.60 meters.
Newman finished fifth in the men’s triple jump with a final of 13.87 meters.
Jeff Brummer, sophomore of Wilcox finished fifth in the men’s 400-meter dash decathlon with a final run of 59.37.
Brummer also finished third in the men’s high jump decathlon with a final of 1.80 meters, fourth in the men’s pole vault decathlon with a final of 3.00 meters, first in the men’s long jump decathlon with a final of 6.75 meters and fifth in the men’s javelin throw decathlon with a final of 34.16 meters.
Brummer finished fifth overall in the men’s decathlon.
The Eagles will be in Boulder this Saturday for the Colorado Inivtational.
