NCMA conference, awards this weekend
Chadron State College will host the Nebraska Collegiate Media Association Conference Friday and Saturday in the Student Center.
Registration for students traveling from other colleges will occur from 3 – 9 p.m. Friday.
The conference will begin with refreshments and late registration at 7:45 a.m. Saturday in the lobby.
The morning will be filled with seminars and workshops for all students to attend. The sessions will all be led by speakers with a connection to journalism.
The Honorable Brian C. Silverman, judge for Nebraska’s 12th District Court, is slated to speak from 8:30-9:45 a.m. in the Student Center Ponderosa Room.
Marnie Herrmann, marketing director for Security First Bank in Rapid City, S.D., is scheduled for 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. in the Student Center Bordeaux Room.
Steve Frederick, editor of the Star-Herald, is planned for 10 – 11:15 a.m. in the Student Center Ponderosa Room.
Macradee Aegerter, news director for KGWN-TV in Cheyenne, Wyo., is set to speak from 10 – 11:15 a.m. in the Student Center Scottsbluff room.
The Golden Leaf Awards Banquet will then begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speakers include Javed Hamim Kakar, senior regional and international editor for Pajhwok Afghan News in Kabul, and Zainab Mohammadi, senior reporter for Pajhwok Afghan News.
