Possible Kline Center replacement planned

Preliminary plans unveiled Thursday by CSC President Janie Park reveal that the Kline Center may be replaced by a bandshell amphitheater surrounded by landscaping and trees.

The drawings, created by CSC Horticulturist Lucinda Mays, were shown to a Chadron community service organization, revealing features that would make CSC more welcoming and versatile.

“We’re basing the needs on ideas of students, faculty, and staff,” Mays said. “I thought it would be fun to have a place to show outdoor movies, gather informally, and have outdoor ceremonies when the weather is good.”

Planning for this space is still in its infancy, but Mays believes that this amphitheater and campus entrance plan could make CSC more user friendly because of its location in the middle of campus.

“What a great opportunity to take space that already exists in the middle of campus and turn it into a place of gathering and fun.”

Any plans concerning the replacement of Kline will need to pass the appropriate approval process.
