Families take center stage at Saturday’s celebration
Chadron State College will welcome students’ friends and relatives Saturday for the college’s annual Family Day celebration.
Attendees can cheer on the Eagles in four athletic events.
The volleyball team has matches at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The football game begins noon Saturday and will feature introductions of team members, their parents, and groups associated with the team.
According to CSC Information Services, before Saturday’s game, the college will give recognize three families with long-standing ties to the institution.
They are the families of Ernest and Twila Griffiths of Scottsbluff, Malvern and Sharon Mizner of Whitney, and Lee and Virginia Wahlstrom of Chadron.
After the football game, Eagle fans are invited to two events at Country Kitchen Restaurant at the intersection West 10th Street and U.S. Highway 385.
In addition to the customary post-game reception featuring appetizers and a cash bar in the banquet room, the Chadron Chamber of Commerce will host its second annual Eaglefest in the parking lot from 4:30 p.m. to midnight.
Eaglefest will feature a steak dinner, raffles, door prizes, and entertainment by CSC alumnus Ben Treffer.
Tickets for Eaglefest are available at the gate or by contacting the Chamber of Commerce.
Other events Saturday include athletic jersey rentals, horse drawn tours and games in the Student Center.
