Golf pauses season
The Chadron State golf team finished sixth of eight during the two-day tournament hosted by Colorado Christian University Invitational at Raccoon Creek Golf Course in Littleton, Colo.
The Eagles fired their best round yet this season, shooting 340 as a team Tuesday, for a two-day total of 705.
Caitlin Parker, senior of Rock Springs, Wyo., shot a round of 167, a season best, to lead the Eagles with a 12th place tie.
Although Adams State was in the lead on Monday, all five golfers of Dallas Baptist University finished in the top 10, which earned them first place at the invite with a total of 627 strokes.
The Eagles trailed Colorado Christian by 6 strokes for the sixth place and out-played CSU-Pueblo and Dodge City Community College who placed seventh and eighth.
Shala Sinner and Emilee Pilkington, both freshmen of Scottsbluff, pulled their weight with solid rounds of 179 to tie for 24th.
Alissa Peterson, senior of Lusk, Wyo., shadowed with a total score of 180.
Juniors Ashley Kurtz, of Valentine, and Michelle Haynes, of Crawford, also contributed to the Eagle’s season-best round with scores of 193 and 211 respectively.
The Eagles will be back in action for their last fall season tournament on Oct. 4-5 until the spring season begins.
The tournament is hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney at the Wildhorse Golf Club in Gothenburg. The first match of the spring season is to be announced.
