Top ten reasons to embrace Harry’s magic
Finally, after months that felt more like eons, the first part of “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows” is coming to theaters. Here are the top ten reasons that you should go to the premiere at midnight tonight.
1. No spoilers – Don’t you hate it when all your friends have seen the movie, and they come home saying things like, “Hey, this happened, then this happened, and this part was awesome!” Avoid this trauma and see the movie on opening night.
2. The Baddies – Maybe Snape’s a jerk, but Alan Rickman sure plays him well. The parts when Helena Bonham Carter, as Bellatrix Lestrange, cackles evilly are enough to give anyone chills. And what would life be like without the guy we all love to hate, Voldemort, played by Ralph Fiennes?
3. Dobby – What else needs to be said?
4. Waiting in line – It will be cold, and it will be brutal, but isn’t waiting in line half the (muggle) magic? These are the hours that we, the devoted fans, show off our awesome, if dorky, costumes, t-shirts, and make-up. Besides, those few hours in line won’t be nearly as hard as “The Infinite Camping Trip.”
5. British accents – Secretly, we all wish we were cool enough to have British accents. Listening to other people who have them the closest we Americans are going to get to that level of awesomeness.
6. Action – Finally, after all the previous films where there’s only bits and pieces of action, this movie will be packed with the interesting stuff, from Snatchers, to running frantically from dementors, to the first big duel with Voldie himself.
7. Romance – It’s a classic literary device: the two people who argue all the time fall in love. Maybe our favorite couple of Ron and Hermione won’t see any action in this movie, but they will certainly be the regular, bickering couple that we have come to know and love.
8. Humor – Movie-verse Fred and George are going to be just as full of funny cracks as ever.
9. Drama – Those parts when the whole audience holds their breath can be just as good as the happy parts. Sure, there will be a fair share of tears, cries of horror, and angry mutters in the theater. However, the drama will still be an added plus to this awesome movie.
10. Harry Potter – “He’s Harry Freaking Potter!” He’s cool, he’s good looking, and his story is just an awesome story that pulls anyone in. How could he, and his story, not be loved?
Don’t be a squib – be there.
