City declares snow emergency for Tuesday
In a press release, the City of Chadron declared a snow emergency from 1 a.m. to noon Tuesday.
The city’s Public Works website states, “The City Manager or Public Works Director may order a parking prohibition on all snow emergency routes by declaring that an emergency exists on the basis of falling snow, sleet, freezing rain or official forecast by the U.S. Weather Service.”

The emergency snow routes are:
- Main Street between First and Fifth streets
- Chadron Avenue between First and Third streets
- Morehead Street between Second and Third streets
- Second Street between Bordeaux and Morehead streets
- Third Street between King and Mears Streets
The Public Works website states that during the Snow Emergency, it is illegal “to park or allow to remain parked any vehicle on any portion of a snow emergency route during a parking prohibition affecting such streets.
“Once in effect, the parking prohibition imposed under this section shall remain in effect until terminated by the City Manager or Public Works Director.”
