Eagles host and feast on Tigers

The Chadron State Eagles beat the Fort Hays Tigers 28-19 in the NPAC Sunday for their first home meet this season.
Trent Zempel, senior of Diamondville, Wyo., wrestling at 174 pounds began the dual by over pinning Tigers wrestler Aaron Berscheidt, junior of Gardner, Kan., in 1:37.
Jordon Debus, freshman of Mitchell, kept the momentum going by pinning his opponent Chris Luna, redshirt freshman of Lubbock, Texas, in 5:44 for the 184-pound bout.
Eagle 197-pound wrestler Chris Leak, sophomore of Omaha, defeated Steven Kyler, sophomore of Ellsworth, Kan., with a 7-4 decision, giving three consecutive wins for the Chadron State team.
Heavy weight Eagle wrestler Sam Udell, senior of Colorado Springs Colo., pinned his opponent Justin Glenn, junior of Enid, Colo., in 3:34. Udell won the fourth straight win for CSC and the team’s third pin of the night.
Due to team injury, the Eagles lost by forfeit in the 125-pound class to Rory Wilkinson, redshirt freshman of Gibbon.
Fort Hays’ 133-pound wrestler Aldon Isenberg, sophomore of Goddard, Kan., defeated Dustin Stodola, sophomore of Clarkson, with a 10-2 major decision.
Jimmy Savala, senior of Clovis, Calif., owned the 141-pound match over Travis Kuhn, junior of Clarks, by major decision, 12-3.
Eagle Phillip Bullington, sophomore of Benson, Ariz., was pinned in 44 seconds by Tigers 149-pound Mitchell Means, redshirt freshman of Goddard, Kan.
The last win of the night for the Eagles was by 157-pound Mikah Kadera, junior of Sheridan, Wyo., who won by deicision over Tiger Derek Koehn, redshirt freshman of Pittsburg, Kan., 10-3.
The final match of the night was lost at 165-pound class when Tiger wrestler Travis Budke, junior of Hays, Kan., defeated Eagle Briston Brenton, junior of Casper, Wyo., by a single point, 9-8.
The Chadron State Eagles defeated the Fort Hays Tigers with a total team score of 28-19 for their first RMAC victory of the season.
