Health fair planned for Today
The 2011 Wellness for a Lifespan Health Fair is set for 3-7 p.m. today in the Student Center.
Shellie Johns, coordinator of conferencing, said 32 organizations are signed up for activities, presentations and information displays offering insights about creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The fair is free and open to the public. Providers will be taking sign-ups for private screenings and laboratory testing. The fair is co-sponsored by CSC, Chadron Community Hospital and Health Services, and the Chadron Lifespan Wellness Team.
“There will be a lot of great information at the Health Fair and some special opportunities as well.” Ann Dockweiler, CSC nurse said Wednesday.
Dockweiler also listed several participants in an e-mail. Chadron Hospital’s Lab will once again have a sign up booth for “Health Fair Special Lab Work.”
A “Basic profile” costs $22.30 and includes a cholesterol panel, liver function, kidney function, thyroid, and diabetes screening.
“The Basic + PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen)” for men costs $36.95.
“Those prices are incredible,” Dockweiler said.
Interested parties will only be scheduling a date and time available to go to the hospital lab and have your blood drawn. Also, those who sign up do not need to pay until they go in to the lab.
The Hospital Pharmacy will also have a “Brown Bag review.” Patients can bring in all their medicines, whether prescription or over-the-counter, as well as herbal supplements, to be reviewed for potential interactions.
The Chadron Medical Clinic will also provide information and they will also be offering influenza shots for $10 while supplies last.
