Jersey Shore dance party
Late Night at the Pit is set to host a “Jersey Shore” club-themed dance tonight from 9 p.m. until midnight.
The dance will be in the Student Center Pit. It will include a mock-tail bar in the lounge area for people who aren’t into nonstop dancing, said Jamie Keller, senior of Scottsbluff, who is the Pit event coordinator.
Prizes will be awarded for three categories. The first category is best look alike to a Jersey Shore character. The second category is party starter, which will go to the person who gets the dancing going. The final category is freshest look, which includes newest gear or “bling.”
Pit employees will also be dressed as Jersey Shore characters.
Keller said that the Pit will be decorated like a club from a big city, and added that even people who aren’t familiar with a club atmosphere will recognize it from the popular television show Jersey Shore.
The club atmosphere will include a coat check-in, laser and black lights, and a sound system. There will be a variety of club music, and Fred Culp, freshman of Hawaii, who’s DJ name is DJ Freddy C will be taking song requests.
Keller said the Pit is hoping to set a record for the number of people attending. The current record holder is the Eighties night, hosted last semester, which drew in 375 students. “This is the first big event of the New Year,” he said, adding that the Pit hopes to continue hosting bigger and better events, depending on the success of the Jersey Shore dance.
“College students need a chance to dress up and do something,” Keller said.
