The Campus Activities Board allocated $7,000 for two upcoming events at its Tuesday meeting.
Luke Wright, treasurer, said that CAB’s account balance was $14,546.43. He asked CAB to allocate $5,000 dollars for Mardi Gras. The Mardi Gras events are set for Feb. 22-24. The allocation was passed, 40-0.
Ashley Maxon, senate treasurer, shared the results of the key fob access survey that the Student Senate conducted at the end of last semester.
Maxon said 402 students participated in the survey; 199 rated their feeling of safety on campus 5 out of 5. Another 160 rated theirs 4 out of 5. None rated safety at 1.
Aye asked the CAB representatives whether they would be interested in having a fob scanner installed near the High Rise breezeway.
Maxon also said that the Alternative Spring Break will be tornado relief clean-up in Arkansas over mid-term break. The cost of the trip is $150 per student, but students can earn $50 in credit by attending the meetings and fundraisers.
Marty Lastovica, junior of Omaha, requested $2,000 for Release, a performing arts event planned for 7:30 p.m. April 30, at Memorial Hall. He said that the money pays for advertising and the artists’ transportation and board.
Lastovica said the purpose of Release is to show diversity in the performing arts. CAB approved the request 40-0.
Aye said there were 150 people at free movie night—a good turnout considering the weather and play-offs.
Jazzy Seumalo, special and cultural events coordinator, said Jeff Corwin is set to perform 7 p.m. Feb. 1., in Memorial Hall.
Laure Sinn, coordinator of student activities, reminded students to reserve tickets now for Corwin’s performance.
Tickets are free for students, but must be reserved in advance to ensure seating.
“Tickets are almost sold out,” Sinn said.
Seumalo also said the International Club is having a Food Tasting party 5:30 p.m. Feb. 12.
Tickets can be purchased from any International Club member.

Dietrich said that applications for a new student trustee will be on the information desk at the Student Center. Applications are due by noon, Feb. 18.
