Dietrich discusses student trustee position at senate
Student Senate discussed Alternative Spring Break, key fob plans, and changes for school requirements at its ten-minute meeting Monday.
Trevor Dietrich, student trustee, said Chadron, Wayne, and Peru State Colleges have reached an agreement to place holds on student’s accounts that will prevent sharing of transcripts or other information between the three schools.
Dietrich said the Board of Trustees vote on the proposed change in required graduation credits from 125 to 120 has been postponed and he will give an update on the issue when it is considered again.
Dietrich’s final topic for the meeting expressed the need for a new student trustee.
His tenure ends in May and applications for the position must be in by Feb. 18 with 3 letters of recommendation and a resume.
He explained that this position is filled with multiple opportunities for meeting the governor as well as senators and looks great on a resume.
Anyone interested can discuss the position with Dietrich.
Jacob Karmazin, president, said that the proposal they are planning to present to the housing administration about the key fob only changes one thing from the current rules. They plan to propose a new key fob entrance in between the breezeways but to leave the hours the same.
Deena Kennel will be coming to the senate meeting next week to request $10,000 for Alternative Spring Break.
Ashley Maxon, treasurer, said that this will be the last time Alternative Spring Break will need to ask the senate from money. Kennel plans to change the break from a club to an event so that it will no longer need to ask the senate for money every year.
