NSCS taking applications for new student trustee

Applications are now made available to fill the position of Student Trustee from Chadron State College for the Nebraska State College System.

One undergraduate student from each of the three state colleges is appointed by the Governor to carry out a one-year term as student trustee on the NSCS Board of Trustees, with responsibilities starting in May.

Student Trustees are non-voting members and are allowed full board membership and participation with the exception of certain personnel and legal matters.

Applications may be picked up at the information desk located in the Student Center, the office of Randy Rhine, vice president for enrollment management and student services in 336 Crites Hall, or can be accessed online via the Student Senate website at www.csc.edu/studentsenate/.

Applications are to be turned in no later than noon Feb. 18 in Crites Hall 336. Students must complete the application and have three letters of recommendation from students, faculty, and administration.

“As a student, the learning and networking opportunities are phenomenal. From the perspective of Chadron State College, the student trustee facilitates communication between students, administrators, and the board.

“Many board members have expressed how glad they are to have students serving in such capacity,” Trevor Dietrich, current student trustee, said.

Dietrich also said, “When sorting through the politics, legal requirements, and finances, Student Trustees help bring to the surface the central reason for having colleges – to educate the next generation.”

For more information contact Dietrich at 765-2003 or Randy Rhine, vice president of student services and enrollment management, at 432-6231.
