Women’s team wins 3

The Chadron State women’s basketball team came back from a six-point deficit and fed off of a 16 point run to secure their third consecutive victory over the Colorado Christian Cougars in the Armstrong Gymnasium Saturday.
The Eagles started the opening half with cold shooting, making only 26.7% (8-30) of their total shots. The Cougars led the scoreboard for the majority of the half and the Eagles went into halftime trailing 32-26.
The Eagles slowly chipped away at the margin while playing a stellar game of defense. This combination led them to tie the score 45-45 after a game-changing steal by Jazmyn Webster, freshman of Cheyenne, Wyo., and a 2-point layup by Marla Munson, sophomore of Hershey.
Sadie Waugh, sophomore of Paxton, gave the Eagles the lead that they held for the rest of the game.
The Eagles had a 54-45 lead with 9 minutes left, but the Cougars did not let up easy.
With less than three minutes left, Colorado Christian’s Brittany Long sank a 3-pointer, closing the margin to four points.
Two more cougar jumpers made it a two-point game at 59-61. A missed Eagle free throw kept the adrenaline pumping, but the victory was sealed after a Cougar missed 3-pointer.
Munsen led the team with 20 points while Kada Williams, junior from Green River Wyo., added 10 and Webster and Waugh both chipped in eight. Munsen and Scott both finished the game with nine rebounds. Webster also had five steals and six assists.
Chadron State will be traveling to Colorado this weekend to face Western State on Friday and Mesa State on Saturday.
