FCS conference set for Friday

”Excellence in Early Childhood Conference,” an annual event in its twenty-second year, mixes keynote speakers with active participant simulations in order to further educate attendees on the growth and development of young children.

The conference, hosted by CSC faculty member Kim Madsen, has adopted the theme “United We Stand for Children . . . Reconnecting to Nature,” and is being offered to current CSC students for one hour of either undergraduate or graduate credit.

Two of the planned events are open to the public free and without need of registration – they are a poverty simulation to demonstrate the effectiveness of capitalism, and a musical performance by guitarist David Roth. The simulation, “Living in Poverty,” is set for 3 – 5 p.m., while Roth’s performance will take place in the student center at 7 p.m.

Registrations are still being accepted for the Saturday portion of the conference. The $40 fee includes a luncheon as well as conference materials.
