Student Senate takes new members
Senate inducted two new members and filled the chief justice position at Monday’s meeting.
Dalton Nelson informed President Jacob Karmazin this week that he was resigning from his position as Chief Justice due to scheduling conflicts. Riley Machal and Sammi Shaykett were the only members eligible for the position because they are representatives of Constitutional Court. Both were nominated for the position but only Machal accepted the nomination. When asked why she wanted to be Chief Justice she said, “Well, somebody’s got to do it.” The Senate unanimously voted her to fill the position of Chief Justice and put her to work right away to induct two new senators.
Beth Wroblewski was inducted as a Senator of B.E.A.M.S.S. She served as a junior senator last semester and expressed a desire to become a senator this semester.
Heather Wing was also unanimously voted in as a Senator of B.E.A.M.S.S. Wing is a Business Administration major and said she wanted to be a part of senate so she could be a voice for students on campus.
Trevor Dietrich announced that the committee regarding the new student trustee met last week and sent recommendations forward to the president so in a few weeks the new student trustee will be announced.
Laure Sinn said that the Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball had a great turn out with 250 students present. She also mentioned that this year is the fifty-first anniversary of Scholastic Day, which occurrs on April 1.
