Residence Life Association hosted its fourth annual “Go Green Fair” from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., March 3, in the Student Center.

Each of the residence halls had booths set up in the Student Center, with environmently friendly products on display and students who arrived early received samples. Edna Wing/Hall had reusable t-shirt bags made out of old CSC t-shirts, as well as instructions on how to make them; Brooks Hall handed out starter kits for flowers made from cut-up egg cartons; Kent Hall demonstrated the difference between a regular light bulb and an energy efficient light bulb using an electric meter (often found on the side of homes) as an example. Joseph Persac, Kent Hall assistant RD, explained how to properly dispose of energy efficient light bulbs; High Rise gave out “green” cleaning solution as well as instructions on how to make the solution at home; Andrews Hall handed out note pads made out of recycled paper; The RLA booth, prepared by Tami Fosher, director of Residence Life Programs, had reusable bags with the CSC logo printed on them as well as jump drives for students.

When green awareness events first started on campus, the college had previously dedicated an entire week to the activities; however, the events were condensed to a day because of lack of participation. Fosher said 300 people were expected to attend the fair.
