Elections and spring events discussed at CAB

CAB focused on upcoming spring events in the meeting Tuesday including a campus cleanup, Senate elections, Spring Days, and Scholastics Day.

CAB allocated $250 dollars for Scholastics Day at CAB President, Christine Kambarami’s request. The money will pay for t-shirts, food, and supplies.

A senate-sponsored campus wide cleanup will be 2 p.m., Sunday, to take care of the trash, Kambarami said. Participants should meet at the CAB office in the student center. Kambarami asked club reps to help with the cleanup since they are leaders on campus. She said that most of the senators would also be there.

Club reps who help will receive one free absence from a CAB meeting. Only a few reps expressed interest in participating. Kambarami asked if Saturday would be more convenient than Sunday. There were no responses.

Senate elections are March 29 – 30, and many senate positions are open, Kambarami said. Petition forms are available in the senate office. Riley Machal, of SAC, added that the petitions are due by 5 p.m., Monday, March 22.

“Even if you don’t run for senate positions, please vote,” Kambarami said.

Luke Wright, treasurer, asked anyone who was interested in being CAB treasurer next semester to talk to him.

The CAB account has $4,046.43.

Tracy Reyes of MTNA, asked about the dates of Spring Days.

Kambarami said the annual Spring Days events, which included the Mardi Gras dance, will be spread out over the spring semester instead of contained in one week.

Jazzy Seumalo, special and cultural events coordinator, said that Men’s Rugby is having a carwash 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, March 19 at the lot next to Mr. Movies. Open Mic is Friday, March 18.

Katrina Mundt, student events coordinator, said the first “Got’cha” meeting is 9 p.m. tonight at Late Night at the Pit.

The purpose of the meeting is to explain the rules of the game. Interested participants must attend the event for at least a half-hour in order to qualify to play the game.

Laure Sinn, adviser, is still looking for students or clubs to assist with Scholastics Day. The event is scheduled to be from 7:30 a.m. – noon, Friday, April 1.

“This place will be full of 2,000 high school students,” Sinn said, “please be nice.”
