The CSC Eagles squared off against the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets Tuesday in The Donald E. Young Center in Spearfish, S.D. Coming off a string of losses, the Eagles were in desperate need of a win.

After the first two sets the Yellow Jackets were up 2-0 and the Eagles found themselves one set away from losing the match. After winning the third set by taking advantage of 16 BHSU errors, the Eagles’ comeback was on. Chadron State went on to win the final two sets and defeat the Yellow Jackets 3-2 in five sets.

Leading the team with a .283 hitting percentage was junior outside hitter Mollie Jones, of Longmont, Colo. Jones tallied a double-double which included 21 kills and 13 digs and also led the team in blocks with three. Kristina Harter, junior of Colorado Springs, Colo., also turned in a solid game by leading the defensive effort with 24 digs to go along with two aces.

For the Yellow Jackets, Caitlin Templeton, sophomore of Rapid City, S.D., led the effort with 17 kills and a .237 hitting average. Darbi Yost, sophomore of Wheatland, Wyo., recorded 40 assists, which kept the Yellow Jacket hitters busy.

The Eagles will hope to continue their winning ways with a string of 3 home games in three consecutive days. The Eagles will host three Colorado teams: Adams State College, Western State University, and Colorado Mesa University. All game times are set for 7 p.m. at Armstrong Gymnasium.
