Tribute quartet coming to CSC

The Turtle Island Quartet, a string quartet which specializes in chamber music, will be coming to Chadron on Oct. 18 as the second installment of the Galaxy Series.

The quartet will be playing songs that celebrate Jimi Hendrix. David Balakrishnan, who is the leader of the quartet, has been a fan of Hendrix since he was a teenager. The group plays a variety music, including the classic rock of Hendrix, but also classical, jazz, and even music from a variety of places such as Latin America.

Their album “Have You Ever…?” was released in 2010. The group has also won two Grammy Awards.
