Letter: Nancy and Roger Nelson on O’Boyle

Editor’s Note: The following is a letter to Larry Teahon, NSC Board of Trustees member of Chadron, and submitted to The Eagle as a letter-to-the-editor.

Dear Larry,

Yes, we have been told Bill O’Boyle’s details will not be discussed by Carpenter, Park or the college. Therefore, I am asking for no details. However, I do have some general questions.

1.  Park said she relieved Bill of Head Coaching duties to he can prepare for the investigation.   How does she know how long it will take him to prepare?  She doesn’t but she let him go for the rest of the season.  Make sense?

2.  She relieved him of the Head Coaching duties to prepare for the investigation but immediately banned him from the campus (according to the Eagle Newspaper). [The Eagle has only reported that O’Boyle was relieved from coaching, but not banned from campus.]  Normally, one would need access to their office in order to prepare.  Makes no sense.

3.  If Bill needs time to prepare, I would think Brad would need the same amount of time.  However, Park doubled his duties by making him Head Coach.  Seems the Athletic Director would be very involved in an NCAA Investigation.

4.  How can all of this happen on “possible” violations that are as of now unfounded?

As graduates of Chadron State College, we truly hope you do not dodge the above questions.

Thank you for your time.

of Chadron
