‘Helping a hero’ veterans benefit brought to CSC

The ball is scheduled from 6-9:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, in the Student Center Ballroom. Admission is $3 per person or $5 per couple. The event will feature music and refreshments.
Featured speakers will be Lt. Franklin Annis, assistant professor for CSC’s ROTC program, and Lou Marshall, member of the Chadron American Legion Auxiliary. Rounding out the evening will be an auction in which attendees can bid for dates with soldiers.
Proceeds from the ball will go to the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary to help with care items at the Veteran Affairs Hospital at Hot Springs, S.D., and the Women Veterans Homeless Shelter at Belle Fourche, S.D.
Two CSC clubs are sponsoring the ball: the Public Relations club and the War Eagles club. In addition to the Veterans Benefit Ball, the Public Relations Club is preparing a story wall for veterans and active-duty service members during the week leading up to the ball. Club members are asking people to participate by writing a story about their personal experiences with family and friends who have served their country. The story wall will be displayed in the Student Center during the week before the ball and during the event.
Editor’s note: If you would like to submit a personal experience about yourself or someone you know who has served in the military, leave a comment and it will be forwarded on to the event sponsors for inclusion in the story wall.
