Charles Snare, current dean of Teaching and Learning, has accepted the vice president for academic affairs position, according to an email sent to Chadron State College employees Tuesday afternoon by CSC President Janie Park.

In the email, Park stated, “I am pleased to announce that Dr. Charles Snare has accepted the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs effective July 1, 2012.”

Park said Tuesday afternoon via telephone that four faculty and four administrators were on the search committee for the academic vice president position.

Randy Rhine, vice president for enrollment, management, and student services, chaired the search committee.

“I look forward to working with Dr. Snare in his new role as the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  I believe that the strategic initiatives currently being pursued to re-imagine education at Chadron State College will have a positive impact on the future of the institution.  Dr. Snare has made significant contributions to the institution and the strategic initiatives,” Rhine said.

“We’re going to start a national search as soon as we can get the paperwork together and I can get a committee together. We’ll get the ad out to ‘The Chronicle’ and the other resources we use to get the information out for a national search,” Park said about a replacement for Snare’s current position. “There’s a standard set of places where academics look for administrative positions, but ‘The Chronicle’ is generally the gold standard for that.”

“My goal would be to get that filled prior to July 1, so that we have a smooth transition,” Park said.

In addition to Rhine, the committee was composed of Margaret Crouse, Steve Taylor, Milton Wolf, Wendy Waugh, Lisette Leesch, Mary Jo Carnot, and James Margetts.
