Football search committee’s structure unclear

Following a Dec. 28 press release that stated current Chadron State College Athletic Director Brad Smith and former football player Don Beebe will co-chair the search committee for the head football coaching position, CSC Director of Human Resources, Kara Vogt, stated today via email “The Administration has not finalized the structure of the search committee yet other than appointing co-chairs Brad Smith and Don Beebe.  We will use the same informal selection process for the search committee as we have with others.”

Vogt went on to state that there wasn’t a pre-determined number of applicants that the search committee would forward to the administration for consideration, and that her department would begin accepting applications as soon as the vacancy has been posted on the CSC website, which Vogt stated “should be in the near future.”

Vogt also stated that advertisements would be placed with the NCAA and Higher Ed Jobs. According to its website, the cost for advertising a single position on the NCAA begins at $245 for a 30-day listing. Higher Ed Jobs charges $180 for up to 60 days; however, both sites offer discounts for bulk purchasing.

As of Jan. 5, Beebe hadn’t replied to an email sent Dec. 28.

This is total baloney !!! I would bet that Coach O’Boyle’s replacement has already been chosen. I don’t believe anything that comes out of Janie Park’s mouth as she sits in her “Tower of Power” staring out at her expensive statues. She is on a huge ego trip. How dare she ban Coach O’Boyle in October from the entire campus and demand that he have no contact with his players or they him and not even allow him to attend the games. Aren’t you supposed to be innocent until proven guilty? He never has gotten to defend himself. Is there a restraining order that we know nothing about? This is state property and I am sure that legally she should not be allowed to do such a thing. Why do people fear her??? She demands that CSC employees are not to speak about this subject or other former CSC employees who were employeed one day and POOF-gone the next with no explanation. Why is she allowed to have such control??? She will go down in history as the most disliked (to put it mildly) administrator CSC ever had. Hope she’s not expecting that a building will be named after her. She may have high hopes that a strong wind will blow the two “S’s” off of SPARKS HALL and she can pretend that it says Park Hall. That’s as close as it will get. SHE NEEDS TO GO !!!!!!!!!!

The admin. actions throughout this whole scene is nothing less than appalling. The state aditor himself decried their actions as “unusual”.The pres. said she was removing him in Oct.for “possible ncaa violations” yet chose to not renew his contract BEFORE the ncaa or state auditor have rendered their decisions.Add up ALL the pieces of the scene and it points to the A.D. being announced as the new coach i think this was the plan all along.Meanwhile a very good program spirals down the drain. She will depart in the spring leaving behind a ruined athletic program.
