PR Club hosts new and returning bands for Battle Of The Bands
The Chadron State Public Relations Club is hosting its Second Annual Battle of the Bands on Friday, March 30, from 6-10 p.m., at the CSC Student Center Ballroom. Admission at the door is free to CSC students with student IDs and $3 to the public.
Area bands are competing for cash prizes as well as a chance to have their music aired on Chadron’s rock radio station; KBPY 107.7 FM. Contestants compete for a 1st place prize of $300, a 2nd place prize of $175 and a 3rd place prize of $75.
Each band is critiqued by a panel of judges, composed of CSC staff, students and community members, to determine the top three winners of the competition. The judging criterion includes, but is not limited to preparation, music, and crowd reaction. Bands are allotted 15 minutes to showcase their talents, and winners will be announced at the end of the competition.
Three of the bands from last year’s competition are returning to compete. The Raging Derelicts, of Scottsbluff; Bless Me Ultima, of Alliance; and Victory UnderGround, of Ogallala, are competing with a few new faces to the competition.
T-shirts will be sold at the competition for $10 each and participants can listen to KBPY 107.7 FM for a chance to win a free T-shirt before the competition.
The Public Relations Club Second Annual Battle of the Bands is co-sponsored by CSC’s Residence Life Association, Chadron’s rock radio station; KBPY 107.7 FM and the National Guard.
