Park to retire, Rhine steps in as interim president

Chadron State College President Janie Park announced her plans today to retire from the college at an all-staff appreciation luncheon.

Park said her retirement is effective May 11, and that Randy Rhine, vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Services, will act as interim president once she retires.

“Making the decision to retire from a career that I’ve loved hasn’t been easy,” Park said. “But I know that I’ll always regret waiting too long and not having the time, and the health, and the vitality, to enjoy the things that I’ve dreamed of doing in retirement.”

Park said she and her husband, Tom, plan to return to their family in Montana.

Rhine’s new capacity will be voted on by the Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees at its April 20 meeting.
