Pairs putt for Eagles in upcoming season

Even with seven of the nine golfers being freshman, Chadron State College’s golf team is ready to start the season.
Junior Emilie Pilkington of Scottsbluff and senior Nicole Tlustos of Hay Springs are the only returning golfers for Chadron State. The bulk of the team is made of freshman recruits who will all bring new talent to Chadron’s team.
Two of the new recruits are already teammates as they played in high school together. Elysha Stahla and Kelsey Williams of Moorcroft, Wyo., both proved to be excellent players by contributing to the three consecutive 2A championships their team received. Stahla won the individual championships in 2009 and 2012, then tying with teammate Williams for first place in 2012.
Another pair of teammates signed to putt for the Eagles this season. Emma Harris and Nicole Pearson of Wahoo both qualified for the state tournament last fall, where Harris placed fourth overall. Both pairs of teammates will add talent to the Eagles’ golf team.
Coming from the west is Darcy Vernon of Wray, Colo., who medaled in the Class 4A tournament. Vernon has placed first in nine tournaments during her high school career. The Eagle’s begin their season at the Adams State Grizzly Invitational on September 16-17 in Alamosa, Colo.
