How sweet home is.

As CSC’s football team scored its victory over Western State Colorado University, Gunnison, this past weekend, cowboys and cowgirls across the Central Rocky Mountain Region converged on the Dawes County Fairgrounds for Chadron State College’s only home rodeo this season.

“It wasn’t just a turn-key operation,” Luper said, ”it took a lot of work getting everything set up. But the kids and the community really helped chip in.  I think a lot of the visiting teams were impressed with how smooth we ran it.”

Falling short of its title hopes, the men’s team earned 275 points and finished fifth in the 10 team field. However, three CSC cowboys captured runner-up slots ¬– two in rough-stock, one in a timed event.

Colten Blanchard, junior of Sulphur, La., and Colin Chytka, junior of Broken Bow made it to Sunday’s final go-round in bareback riding. Blanchard earned 143 points in the average and finished second, while Chytka earned 120 points in the average and finished eighth.
